Fitch Camp for Girls

Each year, a handful of girls attended our Varsity Fitch Camp session and they consistently asked about the possibility of having a "Girls only" camp. Due to this demand, we offered the first ever "Fitch Camp for Girls" during the third week in July of 2015. The camp, with its high energy environment and positive atmosphere, was a huge success as it provided girls with high level teaching of the game of basketball. This year's camp will build on the success of last year's session, and will use classroom sessions and intense workout sessions in the gym in an effort to help push the girls out of their comfort zone in order to help them improve as leaders both on and off the basketball court.

While well known for his basketball playing career and his work as coach of the Fairport Varisty Boys Basketball team, Scott Fitch began his basketball coaching career for Fairport with the Varsity Girls program. As the Fairport Varsity Girls Assistant Coach, he helped the team reach the State Final 4. Additionally, Scott used his knowledge of the game to help with player development, especially during the offseason. The best example of this work can be seen in the development of Caitlin Howe. Scott Fitch began working with Caitlin when she was a 12 year old, and through years of workouts, helped her become a Fairport High School standout and one of the most highly touted and recruited shooting guards in the country.  Caitlin earned a scholarship to Duke University.

Scott Fitch's connection to girls basketball has continued, as many area girls have attended Fitch Camp over the years and he has helped with their individual skill development. Through his work with USA Basketball, Scott Fitch was part of the coaching staff that took the U17 men's and women's teams over to Russia as part of the President's Bilateral Commission. While in Moscow, Scott was asked by the Russians to lead their U16 Girls National team through a series of workouts, an experience that he truly relished. Scott is interested in sharing his expertise and many years of coaching experience with the girls at "Fitch Camp for Girls" to help them reach their potential both on and off the basketball court.

Unfortunately, we will not be running Fitch Camp for Girls this year. We encourage the girls to attend either our Varsity or modified session, which many girls have done in the past.
